I was able to get a copy of the E-Ink covered Esquire for October.

It turns out, it may not be a fully operational e-ink, but a specialty made e-ink.  Big huge pixels the size and shape of letters. :(

Originally, the rumor was that the whole front page would be a big e-ink display. It looks like this one just blinks some large highlighted areas on the front.
